Get Color Recommendations with the New Color Picker

Color makes everything seem more interesting, engaging, and well ... colorful! The integral part of any good design is the colors you choose. Picking the best color combination can be a matter of preference, but there is a whole science behind Color Harmony, which is, using color combinations which are neither too bland, or too chaotic, but just right with each other.

Color Palette

Speaking of color harmony, let’s talk about the new Color Palette in the Poster Maker. The Color Palette displays all the colors you’ve used in your design, and some basic colors used in most designs, such as black and white. It also follows Color Harmony, and recommends colors based on what looks good with your design.

Color

It answers the “What looks good with your design?” question by applying the same color theory we talked about at the start of this blog post.

Color Harmony

Color Harmony comes in many types, one of them is Direct Harmony. It is the point opposite of your key color in the color wheel, in other words, the complimentary color. Now look at the color wheel, the direct opposite of the color red is green, which is recommended by the color wheel. Similarly, the opposite of the color mustard (used in the stamp) is blue! Other forms of Color Harmony are:

  • Split Complimentary
  • Triadic Harmony
  • Analogous Harmony
  • Tetradic Harmony
